Agave Utahensis is natively found in the Mojave deserts because of its ability to tolerate alkaine soils. Utah agave when the flowers are present they are the color yellow, these flowers can be seen at heights of 15 feet. Agave is adapted to high temperatures and can grow with very little water. Used for food and drink by the native Mescal tribes. Utah agave can be found growing at elevation levels of 3000 to 5000 ft. Can be found in other states inclduing: Arizona, California, and Nevada.The speicies of agave appear to be spreading also into other states as well. The plant is descibed as a pernnial maeaning that it lives longer than 2 years. The resistant to dessication and low water needs, makes this plant ideal for xeriscaping. However when handling this plant caution is necessary to possible allergic reaction or sking irritation. Also the plant has spines and sharp edges.
