2001 Exam 1 data

All 100 points on the upcoming exam will relate to the following data and observations from the notebooks of Dr. Wanda Weatherly of Wanship, Utah. You are free to discuss these data and observations among yourselves and with the TA. Be familiar with what these data indicate regarding the plant community, species adaptations, and climate relationships we have been discussing in class.

By way of introduction, Wanda Weatherly is a plant physiologist interested in all sorts of things. She loves to hike and to read, especially books and articles describing the physiological basis of adaptation and factors governing plant responses to the environment. She is also a history buff who is fascinated with the travels of early American explorers such as Carson, Provo, and Weber.

Your task is to be prepared to answer questions related to the data from Wanda's notebook (pages 156-163). The questions will require that you analyze data beforehand to discern patterns. Be prepared to describe relationships, trends, and patterns within these data sets. The expected answers will be short. Often a short essay response is all that is needed to justify your explanation.
